Here we go again

Its a new year, a new start or renewal of works in progress and time for weaving.

Spring has Sprung……

Now that it has stopped raining here it really feels like Spring. Its warm – almost too warm too soon and everything is in bloom – flowers, trees and hayfever alike!  Is colorful, sunny and bright.

Spring yarns out in full force too-

February seems like the perfect month to celebrate “Fire”. Fire has so many associations. There is fire as in emotional fire; passion and Valentine’s Day coming right up and something actually on fire, accidental or otherwise. Fire in fireplaces, in campfires, forest fires, gas stoves burning, smoke, candle light, flames, burnt toast, songs about fire, ring of fire, come on baby light my fire, flowers named after fire, sparks, fire in gemstones, firey redheads, …. After a fire there is renewal, healing, green lush vegetation, calm, a starting over.

Why am I thinking about fire?? The SolidSocks group on Ravelry is having a Fire themed KAL and I’ve just dyed a bunch of yarns all based on some aspect of Fire for them. Take a look. (P.S. They are all 20% off for the month of Feb while supplies last.)

Socks and more socks

It’s here the big boxes of Sock Plus 8 in new larger 120 gram/400 yard skeins. Its seems fitting to be getting this just as the weather is turning cooler and the desire for warm feet is coming. I don’t wear socks much in the summer here in Calif. but just as the cooler days and evenings start I reach for my hand knit socks (as well as socks knit from my csm). This is wonderful stretchy smooth long wearing yarn and now in bigger skeins,  just one skein per pair. I enjoy dyeing the larger skeins, each skein can be its own work of  art. I’m getting it ready for the dye pot and putting the smaller 65 gram skeins on sale. 65 gram Sock Plus 8 skeins are now 20% off.

New Stock waiting for the dyepot—-

I’m excited to be interviewed by Knitcircus on the Knitcircus blog. If you haven’t checked out the online Knitcircus Magazine you’ve been missing out on great patterns and ideas. It has nice collections of unique and original patterns along with book reviews, recipes and sewing ideas- definately something for everyone.

With a new purchase of Handwerks yarn I’ll include a coupon from Knitcircus for a free copy of the Knitcircus Summer 2010 Pattern Collection pdf (while coupon supplies last).

Favorite Colors

I thought I had all the colors I needed in So-Soft Sock and then I realized I don’t have black!  I also see I don’t have a true red either. Those are 2 colors I don’t wear veryoften but they look so great with other colors. So I’m getting busy and dyeing black and red-

What’s your favorite color?

KAL on Ravelry

I’m sponsoring a Mystery Mitts KAL on Ravelry in the Fingerless Gloves Fanatics group. I’m doing out the pattern in 4 installments. The introduction and first few rows have already been posted. Every friday the pattern will be updated with a new installment.

What I like about fingerless gloves is that they are small – you always have time to knit a pair and they are a fun way to try out new stitch patterns.

Here is the link if you want to join in.

I’m back from the Gem and Mineral show and am excited about adding beads to scarves and socks! The colors are also giving me ideas for future yarns.

Too much to do

I’ve neglected my blog.  It seems there is too much to do and too many forums to keep up with. My Ravelry group has taken precedent – so sorry.

I just posted new colors of the Necessary Sock yarn and I will be launching a new/old line called Basic Sock. This is my old standby by, my “go to” sock yarn formerly called Necessary Sock 3 ply. It’s just too confusing to everyone including me to have two lines with the Necessary prefix.  The Necessary 2 ply yarn will remain and Basic Sock will join the line up.

Check my website for the new colors.

Happy Thanksgiving

Are you travelling? staying at home? Either way have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving. I’m off to visit my son in Cincinnati!
